19 February 2016

History repeats itself. The 2016 edition of the Italian Baja (23 -26 June) will start from the main square in Cordenons,  Piazza della Vittoria, as in 2008 when “Folponia City” also hosted the arrival ceremony, testifying the first victory of the driver from Qatar Nasser Al-Attiyah after a tough duel fought against the Russian Boris Gadasin.

The handshake between Mauro Tavella and the Mayor Mario Ongaro subscribed the agreement between the Fuoristrada Club 4x4 Pordenone and the City board.

The date has been fixed on Friday, June 24th, when the vehicles’ parade will start from the Pordenone Fair in the afternoon to reach Piazza della Vittoria; here all participants will be officially presented before to face the Super Special Stage along the Meduna riverbed, a spectacular challenge disputed among fords.

The main square of Cordenons will then offers its scenery to the Prize Giving Ceremony of the 3rd Claudio “Caco” Azzaretti Trophy, proclaiming the fastest participant among drivers and bikers considering therefore cars, bikes and quads. A maxi screen will transmit all race’s moments, allowing people also to watch at the European Football Championship in the evening, keeping the party alive in the square until late.

After being elegantly presented in Geneva last week, the Italian Baja 2016 gets another great result, simultaneously with the World Cup for Cross Country Rallies starting today in Saint Petersburg with the Northern Forest disputed on the Neva delta, in the freezing Russian Winter.
