Italian Baja 2002

Jean Louis Schlesser wins for the second time

Jean Louis Schlesser (Buggy Renault Megane) wins for the second time, beating the official Mitsubishi squadron. In second place is Jean Pierre Fontenay, hurriedly foreclosed after the "divorce" of Jutta Kleinschmidt from RalliArt.

A transalpine duel that ends with a margin of just 52 '' after a race of 514 km. Third, 7'26 '' behind, Kenjiro Shinozuka, relegated to an extra role.

Schlesser's most formidable opponent proves to be Josè Maria Servia (Buggy Renault Kangoo), who arrived just 8 'from the summit but then held back by over half an hour of assistance to remedy a blow to the rear before the final rush on the beach of Bibione.

The Emilian Matteo Graziani (Ktm 300) wins among the bikes although he is never the fastest in the selective sectors, but certainly the most consistent in his performances after the sudden abandonment of the favorite Roberto Benasciutti. Second Paolo Ceci (Yamaha 400) and third the Pordenone Franco Dal Bello (Husqvarna 400), a thoroughbred forward. Among the quads wins Jurgen Mastrocola (Yamaha Raptor), with Angelo Montico this time spectacular second.
