The Italian Baja was born in 1993 from an idea of the Off-road Club 4 × 4 Pordenone, backed by a past experience of Jamboree, night orientation races and 4 × 4 endurance. The first edition is a national one, but a candidate for the 1994 World Cup, and Edi Orioli wins it at the wheel of a Mercedes 600 TE Raid, when the FIA attributes it to world validity with an excellent coefficient and an excellent rating.
