Italian Baja 2009

walkway to Gadasin

A walk. Indeed, a catwalk. For Boris Gadasin the last day of the Italian Baja took on these contours. The Russian driver kept the first place smoothly, thus repeating the success obtained in the 2007 edition.

His Nissan Pick-Up preceded Czech Zapletal's Mitsubishi L200 by 4'24 '' and Dutch Van Denje's Pajero Evolution by 5'19 ''. Montico, however, from Pordenone retired. First round. He speaks Russian, therefore, the test valid for the Fia Cup for Cross country bajas and for the Italian championship. Even in the first stage, in which Gadasin had no problems to impose himself he was 55 '' behind Van Dejine, who seemed more perky than on Saturday and was 101 '' ahead of Zapletal.

But if the podium positions remained unchanged, the official driver of the Hungarian branch of Opel Szalay rose to fourth place, who managed to overtake Mironenko. The Russian experienced some problems in practice and thus slipped to fifth place.

A position below was found at the end of Saturday's Angelo Montico tests. But the Pordenone rider had to retire. His Fornasari RR450 hit a piece of concrete pillar at 120 km / h: in the collision, the arm of a suspension broke. The tire came off and so the local driver had to retire. Colombo (Mitsubishi L200), who had broken third gear on Saturday, took first place among the Italian drivers. In second place went Benazzato (Suzuki New Grand Vitara), author of a regular race, while in third Calubini 'glided'. Lolli, who broke the axle shaft during testing and slipped to sixth position.

Second round. With the victory now acquired, Gadasin gives up and lets Ven Deijne win the last special, who thus closes the Pordenone race with his head held high. He finishes in third place, but ends in second in the general classification, the Czech Zapletal, who has not really managed to get close to the ruler Gadasin. The Russian driver thus wins the Italian Baja, consolidates his first pizza in the Fia cup for Cross Bajas and repeats his success in the first race of the series, held in his "" St. Petersburg. As for the Italian championship, of which the Baja represented the first test, nothing changes compared to the first lap. In front of everyone, Colombo concludes, followed by Benazzato and Calubini. The Mitsubishi driver was good at taking advantage of the retreats of the 'sacred monsters "Codecà, Larini and Montico and can look confidently to his future in the tricolor series.

The quads. Russian domination among cars, Czech domination among quads. Absolutely irrepressible, in fact, the Yamaha Raptor Machacek driver, who won all the scheduled special stages and closed with a 10''05 advantage over the Italian champion, Tiziano Sette (Polaris 525) from Vicenza. Another Czech driver Plechaty completes the podium, finishing at 13'02 '' on the Ktm 530 Exc-r.

Motorbikes. And if the last day of cars and quads did not say anything new, the same cannot be said for that of motorcycles. Claudio Mana, who on Saturday had finished in first place on his Aprilia Rxv550, was overtaken in the only special scheduled yesterday by Nicola Dutto (Husqvarna Te), who was 3'06 '' behind his rival, thus finishing first place with a 40 '' lead. He closes the podium, with a delay of 6'02 '' from the Swedish manufacturer Stefano Bosio, on Ktm Excr530
