Pordenone, 27 June 2025_ Undoubtedly important numbers for the Italian Baja that is back in the World Cup FIA and is now preparing to welcome contestants from 3 different continents (Europe, Asia and America) and 30 nations. July 3-5 the Pordenone fairground will host the race’s headquarters, the heart of a challenge that will take place on the beds of rivers Meduna, Cosa e Tagliamento, involving 20 (twenty!) municipalities from the right to the left side of river Tagliamento. “If I close my eyes I’m brought back to 2019, before the pandemic - says Mauro Tavella - and many other events. But now the Italian Baja takes back its place, in the fairground pavilions, just a few steps from the city centre, showcasing Pordeone at an international level”.
36 teams are competing in the FIA race, from the number 200 assigned to the Argentinian Juan Cruz Iacopini on a team Overdrive Racing’s Toyota Hilux T1+, to Polish Bartlomieij Wajzers’s number 501 on his Toyota Land Cruiser T2, leading the European Championship. The national race, valid for the Italian tricolor and Hungarian championship, counts other 44 teams and will have double coefficient in the overall ranking and in the Groups. And then Federico Buttò on his Can Am Maverick T3 with the number 800, followed by Simone Grossi’s 911 on a Land Rover Defender TH.
Next Thursday at the Pordenone Fiere the ritual technical and sportive checks will take place, then on Friday July 4 morning at 9.30 the start of the “Giulia Maroni” prologue with start and finish in Cordenons, almost 11 km to determine the following starting list. In the afternoon the two passages on the “Rivignano” selective sector, of 35 km km long (start at 14:30 and at 17:30), from Castions di Strada to Muzzana del Turgnano. Saturday 5th July on the “Tagliamento” sector, longer than 120 km, from Cordenons to Dignano, will see 3 FIA races (start at 8:00, at 12:30, at 17:00) and in the first two passages the national race, with double award ceremony at Pordenone Fiere and the final winners’s triumph.
