Pordenone, May 28, 2025 – An interested spectator. The Italian Baja will be watching the events of the Baja Greece from afar, but not too far, as the race unfolds this weekend on the dirt roads of Western Macedonia, with iconic selective sectors on the “Vitsi” mountain, where the contestants will climb to nearly 1900 meters in altitude. This is the third round of the 2025 FIA World Cup Baja, following the Saudi Baja at the end of January and the Jordan Baja in mid-April. The most significant detail for Fuoristrada Club 4x4 Pordenone is that, after this last challenge, the teams will have five weeks free from commitments. A healthy break to restore their vehicles and to get in shape, ready for the Italian Baja, taking place from July 3 to 5, on the river beds of Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento - one of the toughest and most selective races in the international Italian Baja landscape. Currently leading the provisional World Cup standings is Argentine Juan Cruz Iacopini (Toyota Hilux Overdrive), followed by Sergei Remennik (Taurus T3 Max), competing under the flag of the United Arab Emirates. Third place goes to Czech driver Miroslav Zapletal (Ford F-150 Evo). Two races have already been contested for the 2025 FIA European Baja Cup, another really important title at Italian Baja. After the Extremadura Baja in Spain and the Troia in Turkey, the standings are led by Poland’s Bartlomiej Wajzer (Toyota Land Cruiser), ahead of Portugal’s Joao Ferreira (Mini John Cooper Works Rally) and Turkey’s Yagiz Birinci (Can-Am Maverick). As for the 2025 Italian Cross Country Championship, Manuele Mengozzi (Toyota Hilux Overdrive) won the Artugna Race, followed by a victory from Alfio Bordonaro (Suzuki Grand Vitara) at the Sardinia Rally Raid. The Sicilian now leads the national championship ahead of his Emilian rival and Abruzzo’s Michele Abeniacar (Suzuki Grand Vitara). They’ll renew their challenge in July in Pordenone, with the double coefficient of the Italian Baja that could boost or diminish their dreams of winning the title.
